My preferred method instead of painting or varnish it,s going to be a very slow process with the damp weather the drying time is a lot longer than normal.
I am working on maybe three coats to seal the wood and then a coat of wax, working one panel at a time due to lack of space i certainly don,t want to start hanging items off the ceiling, just started on the back of the body first.
Might take a week to do the back of the guitar allowing me to see if it's going to work before going forward on the rest.
The kit in its self is very good that is if you want it to look like the original one personally i don't like the yellow aged looking plastic parts and favour changing these to maybe rosewood?.
More work and more cost cosmetically worth it not sure but dare to be different.
Having finished oiling the back now I must say its looks good not a high gloss just right and it brings out the grain and features of the wood. I will do the same on the rest of the guitar body this week including the neck I have decided not to wax the guitar.
Going to try and find some wood veneer to replace or at least cover up the yellow plastic parts there is so much I would like to try and do with my creations just a shame its comes at a great cost would just love to try Aqua (Hydro) dipping the body this is a method of spraying or spotting paint two or three layers of paint on to water and swirling the paint then dipping the guitar through the paint click links below.

Be honest That looks good I would love to give it a try on one of my cigar box guitars even if its only on the lid. Personally like I have said before I do like the rough and ready look of a handmade guitar not talking about a full-blown professional job here just the kind myself and thousands of other like-minded people make at home in the little workshops.
There are some top-class builders making cigar box guitars
to a high professional standard the likes of Chicken Bone John,
Mike Snowden, Del Puckett the list goes on and on.
Nail a box, tin can, onto a length of wood put on a string of some sort and you will be able to play it I have a walking stick with a nylon string attached to it and if the wind hits it at the right angle it will play itself music without even trying.
Below are the videos for The Making of the Les Paul kit.

I have finished oiling the body and neck it is not too bad not sure if I like It 100% but I will continue with it.
The next thing to do is bluff up the body and neck until it feels smooth, the frets need a little work on the sides but that's me just being a bit picky. Fitting of the hardware should not be a problem everything is already put together for you plus the art of soldering is something I have not yet mastered.
The good thing about this type of guitar kit is if you wish you could go to town upgrading all the hardware and making it something special.

Having done a dry run fitting all parts to make sure everything fits and works correctly which is something I would suggest you do when assembling any object.
This allowed me to find three problems that would have meant a complete stripdown of the guitar it also gives you a visual of what the item is going to look like when completed which again saves time and frustration in the long run

Working on the Les Paul part 3.
Have received the parts now got them from Amazon good shopping place if you can find stuff in the UK and not China.
So now I can get the soldering done and start putting the parts together testing them through the amp first before placing into the guitar just in case.
All the hardware is fitted and working correctly now for the scratchplate and the other surface dressings get this right and you will have a good looking guitar.

Ok a bit of a Delmer
Hi all now the Les Paul is ready for the final assembly I have one big problem that is I have nowhere to put the guitar when it's built.
Sounds a bit silly I know, fourteen guitars are sharing my motorhome at the moment and if the shops that are selling the other ones want me to take them back I will have at least 25 guitars to look after. So this will be put on hold for a while.
Just a little video nothing to do with the les paul sorry.
